Abstract There is a belief commonly held by the public and by some physicians that the liquid content of the vesicles of dermatitis venenata due to poison ivy is capable of producing new lesions and may even cause an eruption to appear on other persons contaminated by the vesicle liquid. Based on our clinical impressions over a period of years, the principles taught in the outpatient department at the Jefferson Medical College have been contrary to this view. The reverse of the card describes the dermatologic conditions as well as the diagnosis and treatment.
